Book Cover Design
If you’ve never written a book before, I can assure you it’s a challenge no matter your background. The amount of research and time spent, depending on the subject and size of your book can be overwhelming. If the book is fiction, the burden of research is drastically reduced since you no longer are constrained by factual information and accreditation. On the other hand, if you’ve chosen a subject matter that involves the Scientific Community and anything they have to say then be prepared to burn midnight oil by the 50 gallon drum.
In addition to the aforementioned considerations and having chosen the latter, I am operating on a shoestring budget. Google to the rescue! Google can easily make a genius out of anyone with the repository of information online. Everything from the research of content, royalty free images/fonts, self-publishing guidelines, print-on-demand services including fulfillment and shipping are available to anyone with a computer. I was even able to locate an Adobe InDesign template for a very specific industry standard book size of 5.5″ X 8.5″. Book size becomes important depending on your audience and printing costs.
